File download/display limit

Post by rhino666 »

Hi

I am using Core FTP lite version 2.1,build 1575 on Windows XP home. Attempted to transfer a large images directory from my server to PC. It seems that there is a display/transfer limit of 2000, so I have only been able to transfer part of the directory. Unable to transfer any more of the images because the display on the server side only shows 2000 entries.

Can anyone assist me with this as need the whole directory on my PC for editing and upload.

Cheers

Rob

Disappointed that no one has any kind of answer to my problem even if it was to say - 'you idiot', etc.

I am trying to edit images on a large database for an active commercial website so the problems with CoreFTP are losing me money. I have also tried running CoreFTP on my newer laptop with Windows Vista. Yes I know it's a rubbish operating system but CoreFTP version 2.1 build 1631 appeared to install with no problems. Beyond that it is hopeless - connection does not get beyond the first log line before locking the application.

As an ex computer programmer I hate giving up on software, especially when it it free but unfortunately everything seems to be working against me with CoreFTP - time to try another FTP client.

Hi CP

Appreciate your reply and also the useful link to that old post. As it is around four years old, this must be a rare problem - perhaps most people have kept their directories at a sensible level of entries. As this is a centrally referenced product images file with multiple image entries, thumbnails, etc, it could well get into 10,000+ in the near future.

As a knee jerk reaction I loaded Filezilla yesterday but had the same 2000 limit problem. The ex colleague/friend who takes care of my Host Server(recently changed and now using the CPanel interface) suggested that I use SFTP/HSS rather than FTP. I am new to fiddling with this software and as far as I could tell the setup for SFTP is the same as FTP with a port change from 21 to 22. Must be missing something as starts the connection handshake and then falls over..............
'unable to initialize SFTP: 潣汵⁤潮⁴潣湮捥t (sftp not enabled?)
Can't establish connection --> clients.b*lst*ne**.co.uk:22 @ Wed Jan 06 09:07:30 2010 (0-1)'.

Any further feedback on this problem or indeed the other problem I have connecting to CoreFTP through windows Vista much appreciated.

Rob
