SSH connection shows folders as files

Post by dayj »

I am running Titan FTP Enterprise Server on a Windows 2003 Server. When I connect using Core FTP Lite v1.3 and SSH, I get a directory listing that shows folders as files. I can manually type in the folder name to change to one of the folders, but I cannot click on the folder to open it. What could be causing this?

There is a problem with the data being sent by this FTP server. Testing with 3.10 reveals some distrurbing issues. I can't go into details here in the forum but needless to say, it does not meet FTP standards and will not work with Core FTP.

I'll continue to see if we can find a way around the problem.

I guess I should have mentioned that the Titan Server works very well with SSL and the CORE FTP Lite 1.3 client. It is only in SSH that we see this strange folder issue.

Correct. This is what I experienced too. SSL worked fine (except for on XP, the server had several problems but switching over to 2000 seemed to work ok).

I also tested the ssh/sftp with a few other ftp clients, and the same problems occured. I am guessing that the ftp server will only do sftp with a particular client.

At this point, it's not looking good. The problems are pretty obvious but there is no immediate solution on the client side.

The client of choice for Titan/SFTP transfers is WEBDRIVE......also a South River Tech. product. If you use this client, SFTP works just fine. However, we like the CORE FTP product and would like to recommend it to our customer base. I will continue to query the support group at South River to see if they have an answer for this as well.
