Why can you Cut but not Copy?

I just started using Core LE. It's nice that you can copy and paste on the server, not just to your home base. I don't see that on any other sftp progs I've tried. But why can't you just Copy? I don't want to destroy the original every time. Sometimes you just want a copy of something in another directory. I start Core, then I have to go to all the trouble of downloading/uploading to copy a file, or use the shell. I'm sure if you can cut and paste you should be able to copy and paste. Or am I missing something obvious here
