Urgent Help Learning How to Backup My Website's Files!

Hello everyone,

I understand how to log into my core FTP file and connect to my server. And I do see an option to download the files that appear on the far right. But When I choose the download option, I don't know where it goes.

I basically want to backup all my website's files and save them before starting to work on changes to my website since I am a novice (I had someone else design my website for me in the past).

I would appreciate help with this as I've been searching for days trying to figure it out!
