This is probably a very basic question, but how can I know that my password is secure when I log on to a server? I have "Allow Auto password/SKey" checked (black check) in "Advanced Site Settings>Connections". I am using Core FTP LE v1.3c.
The help pages state (under "Password Protection"):
"Most FTP servers support password encryption, but do not have it turned on by default. The "Allow Auto Password/SKey" which is a global option and per connection option, will attempt to use password encryption whenever avilable on a server. If the server does not support or have password encryption turned on, the password will still be transmitted clearly."
As I read it, if the FTP server doesn't support password protection, Core FTP will automatically revert to transmiting the login info in simple text.
How can I know if Core FTP reverts to simple text or not? Will it show in the Session Log, and if so, what do I look for?
Also, is there any way to disallow Core FTP Lite from reverting to transmitting the login info in simple text?
Thank you in advance for any help!
