Installation problem

Post by jdc2000 »

I downloaded the free version and the install routine finished OK. However, when I try to run the program, I get the following error messages:

Error Starting Program
Ther COREFTP.EXE file is linked to missing export CRYPT32.DLL:CertGetNameStringA

C:\Program Files\CoreFTP\coreftp.exe
A device attached to the system is not functioning.

Any ideas as to how to correct this would be appreciated. Thanks.
Note: OS is Windows 98, and the crypt32.dll is loaded.
Internet Explorer 4 version 4.72.3110

Thanks for the ideas.

I downloaded the DSClient update and installed it. However, that did not seem to have any effect - I am still getting the error.

I would prefer not to use Internet Explorer 5, since it had many problems and there will not be any further security updates for it. Internet Explorer 6 might work. I'll try CoreFTP setup on a different Win 98 installation that has IE6 installed.

Any other ideas would be appreciated.

I was able to install CoreFTP on a Windows 98 system with Internet Explorer 6. If I could find the correct version of crypt32.dll for Win 98 and IE4, that might fix the problem. I might try the crypt32.dll from the Win98/IE6 system on the IE4 system to see if that works.
