What is CORECMD.EXE and why might I use it?

I saw a reference somewhere that said CORECMD.EXE was now available and could be used in place of COREFTP.EXE in command line for "blocking mode." What is blocking mode?

Thanks CP for the explanation. I wondered if "blocking" mode might as you described, but it seemed almost too conventient. Thanks
