No such file or directory

Post by tammy1999 »

Hi, I have been trying to download a file to my geocities website account and No such file or directory keeps coming up and file doesn't transfer. Only 1 kb of it does. What do I do? Thanks

Hi, I checked the box and tried again and it still says the same thing. What do I do now?

I see what you are saying but when I go to where I store all my pages at geocities, and you see that only 1 kb was sent to the actual site, not 33 kb. And when you click on the page to view it, there is only jiberish. But when I view the page before I transfer it, it looks fine. What do I do now?

Which version (including the build number) are you using, Tammy?

I had a problem similar to this with a much older version, but the problem was rectified after reuploading the same file (it was just an incomplete transfer, not necessarily due to CoreFTP).

--edit--
nevermind, just saw "1447.4" in your log...
Although I doubt it would solve your specific problem, you could always try upgrading to the current build by downloading the Developer Build on the downloads page. It fixes several bugs from that build, though I don't believe any specifically related to the MTDM command (I could be wrong, however, as it WAS updated recently).

hi, thanks for the response. I downloaded the beta version as you requested, but when I go to geocities, there is still just 1kb transferred.

I thought I would add the log after the upgrade.

Try a simple test from here:
http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/webhostin ... tp-03.html

If this doesn't work, you might have a hardware related issue.

If DOS scares you, open up Windows Explorer (i.e.: My Computer) and make sure you can see the Address bar. In the address bar, type the following:

ftp://username:password@tagleenterprises.com

Make sure to switch "username" and "password" with your username and password combo. Drag and drop the files to transfer. You'll probably have to have two Explorer windows open to do this.

If one of these solutions works for you, there very well might be a problem with the way CoreFTP is configured (settings) on your end, or perhaps there's an undocumented/unknown bug that has yet to be discovered (by discovered, I mean the cause for it). Have you tried setting the server type specifically to L8?

none of those things worked and the L8 didn't either.

If none of those things worked, you might have a problem with your firewall. Are you accessing any of this stuff from work, or are you from home?

Have you been able to transfer anything previously? If so, has anything to your knowledge changed since that time?

Actually, thats the 1st time I have been trying to use that program. I usually use the easy upload with Geocities where my site is. I do have my firewall turned on though. Should I turn it off while doing this? Thanks

You can try turning off the firewall to see if it solves the problem. Since you have paid hosting on geocities, it should theoretically work. Free hosting doesn't allow FTP access.

Let us know how it works out. I'm unfortunately not too familiar with Firewall or networking problems which is what you may have.

I should have clarified to turn it off only temporarily to test things. That way you would know that it's just a firewall configuration error...and you could leave it on afterwards and find the obnoxious setting. :( SORRY!

Hi, I checked the firewall and since I have Norton Antivirus on all the time, the Windows firewall is turned off. I turned off PASV and still the same thing.

The page view like this after transfer

SCU õžRxœc```fpcdàd n ô

Thats all that transfers. Thanks

Tammy, are you able to try this on a different computer that is not in the same building? (Friend's house and computer?)

...otherwise, I'd do as CP suggests and email the information to support@coreftp.com and see if they can connect, or if it's a problem with your host's server.

I've had similar problems where only partial file transfers occured, but it was due to network failures and settings that were outside of my control.
