Help -- data dissapears after upload

I am using version 1.3 with Windows XP. When I transfer HTML files to my web site the transfer reads as though it was successful, but the data on the file is gone.

This only happens with HTML files that I created. I can transfer PDF and GIF files for example. However, the HTML files I've created can be uploaded successfully from a friends computer.

So the files are fine, the server is working properly, and my connection is good. What can possibly be the problem?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Yes, after uploading the file in the server directory reads as zero bytes.

However, I just discovered that while it appears that all other files are successfully uploading (the file bytes remain constant) the data is actually gone.

...doesn't look like the file was transferred to me?

Error code 550:
550 - Requested action not taken. File unavailable (e.g., file not found, no access).

It's not a permissions problem, is it? I think I've had this error once or twice on incorrectly set permissions to my directory folders; but it's been awhile since I had it and can't remember. I do recall, however, that I was able to fix it. I am, however, also in a unique position to be able to get access to use SUDO on my server; so...

I believe it's a Windows NT server.

I've come to the conclusion that the problem must be with my computer. I've tried transfering files to three different sites on three different servers and experienced the same problem each time. Yet each site works fine for transfers from my friend's computer, including files I've created.

Something on my computer must be filtering the file transfers, even though the settings on my computer say otherwise. The last time I had a successful file transfer to a server was months ago with a different computer on dial-up. My problems started when I purchased a new computer and switched to ADSL. I've gone through every setting I can find on my system and security software, but there may be something obvious I'm missing. Whatever it is, I'm baffled.
