Problem connecting to server

Hope someone can help, I have been trying to connect to my server, I just used the suggestions in one of the posts to try connecting to ftp.microsoft.com and this is what I got...
Can someone help me,

If you are using XP read the first post in this forum.

If it's not XP blocking it then it's your firewall not allowing FTP outbound connections.

I've read it and still can't get on,
boys I'm about to give up
didn't have problems before I reformated...

I disabled my xp firewall and now I can get on...
