I get this message when I try to upload, can anyone help me please ?

You are probably uploading to the wrong directory. This error means you don't have access for that particular directory.

Cheers mate, I haven't been given a directory just password, user and address.

Sorry i assumed you were already logged in! Either you have the wrong server (address or hostname) or the account information is not being entered correctly. On shared ftp hosting, sometimes the account is entered with the domain:
myusername@domain.com

I can log in fine, just plays up when i try to upload, the only thing i dont know is the directory so I left that blank

do you see any remote directories or do you just see a '/' when you log in?

See if you can create a directory.
If you can't, then your account may not have write priviledges. You'll have to talk to the ftp adminstrator or your web host provider and have them setup your account correctly.
