Error Loading Directory

Post by rizzoratt »

FTP Network Setup:
Windows 2000 OS with IPSwitch WS_FTP Server 5.04 eval version. This network has a Netgear firewall into a DSL connection. Both ports 20 and 21 are open and forwarded to the internal FTP Server.

Connection Network:
Windows XP OS with CoreFTP Lite build 1403 version 1.3 client with SSL Support. This network has a Dlink firewall with ports 1024-5000 open to the internal box.

What I want to accomplish:
I am trying to create an SSL connection from the Connection network to the FTP Network which hosts the FTP server.

What happens: (working inside out)
Working on the server, I connect fine.

Working internally from an XP client on the LAN side of the FTP Server, it works fine - with or without SSL.

From externally, when I connect non-SSL, it works fine. When I try to connect via SSL, I get the certificate completely filled out and appears to try to connect, but when it gets to the List command, I get an error message "timeout ... Error loading directory". Wahhhhhh!!!!

Please read carefully:
1. I have tried this with the XP box on the Connection network connected directly to the internet (cable modem) with no firewall.
2. The XP box does NOT have the XP firewall enabled, nor does it have ICS enabled. It doesn't even have SP2 loaded yet.
3. I have tried using AUTH SSL and Direct SSL with both OpenSSL and WindowsSSL in all varieties.
4. Right now, the PASV on the server and the client are *NOT* checked, though I have tried it with them both checked and the FTP Server specifying my internal default gateway address.
5. In the session viewer on the FTP Server, I can see me connect to the server.
6. I am unable to move the FTP Server from behind the firewall (unable and unwilling)
7. Our network does use NAT, but does not use command filtering

If it would help, I will gladly post the log file results from the server and client... anything if it will help.

Thank you in advance so much for any assistance!!!!
