Problem logging into FTP

Within the last 2 days I have been unable to log in to the server in order to update my website. The server recognizes my username but not my password. Although the password is the same one I've used the last 4 years without any problems I decided to contact my hosting service to change to a new password in hopes that might make the difference. No such luck. Can anyone please help?
