Core FTP lite with Linksys Router and loading directory

Are there any known issues with Linksys Routers. I have two sites that I connect to regularly using SSH and both worked using a sonic vpn. One changed to a Linksys Router and I am unable to get a directory structure. Everything seems to connect fine except when it gets to the change directory and listing the structure the program just stops and sometimes I get a message the program is not responding. If I hit stop button, I get a message that says error loading directory. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have tried using the PASV setting with no success. The lower left hand corner of the screen indicated loading directory. If I push the stop connection the error message comes up error loading directory. Are there any special ports that need to be open on the router for a SSH connection to work.
