Hi,
I have been doing FTP for many years, and decided to try Core FTP 1.3c
I like it very much! But I have a problem uploading to a busy site that only allows 10 users at a time.
The retry function in CuteFTP works very well to catch a spot when it becomes available. So the site is very busy, and retries are needed.
But even though I have checked all the appropriate boxes in Core FTP, it still gives up and won't try again. If I continue trying to connect manually, it eventually connects and works very well. But it can take a long time to finally get lucky.
Any ideas on what to do?
Thanks!

Problems Getting Retry to Function
Re: Problems Getting Retry to Function
Update on using CuteFTP: I noticed a strange phenomenon.
Normally, when CuteFTP is run, it connects immediately.
Then if CuteFTP is unloaded and Core FTP is run, it also connects immediately.
But if I try to run CoreFTP first, it rarely connects. And retry doesn't seem to have any effect.
If anyone knows what to do, please let me know!
Thanks,
Mike Monett

Hi CP,
Thanks for your reply. There are a number of places in various menus to enable retry and set the number.
These seem to be independent of each other. If you change a parameter in one, it does not show up in the others. Very confusing to me, and I'm sure also to the code:)
I looked for the log. It is supposed to be in the Program Files where Core is installed, but it's not there. I also looked in windows and windows/system, it's not there either. I can't find any reference that turns it on or off. I'm running Win98, but Core should work ok.
So the issue is CuteFTP connects after 1/2 dozen retries or so, and if CoreFTP doesn't connect on the first attempt to log on, it quits and won't retry.
Thanks!

Hi CP,
Thanks for your help. Yes, I have the Site Manager --> Retries enabled. Also two others:
1. Advanced Site Setting --> Connections --> Retry Connection
2. Quick Connect --> Retries
I just uploaded some files, but still can't seem to find the Core FTP Log. Do you think maybe I have a bad install? It has been hot lately and my computer crashed a couple of times until I put a fan to blow extra air over the CPU and memory. That fixed it. The CPU heatsink is as cool as a cucumber.
So I will try downloading and reinstalling Core again and see if that helps, and will post the results here.
Thanks!

OK, I downloaded and installed a fresh copy. The CoreFTP directory is identical to the one in my backup drive, so none of the dll's or exe's changed.
I tried the new install settings to see if it would retry, but no luck. So I reloaded the old registry to get my window settings back.
Where do that leave us??
Thanks,

Hi CP,
I tried connecting to 66.15.112.xxx, and it worked fine. Not busy, so no retry message. However, as I was scrolling through the previous messages, CORE FTP crashed. A message window popped up saying it had saved a core dump to the home directory and to send it to you. I looked, and sure enough there is a 91,780 byte file named COREDUMP.LOG
Can you tell me where to send it?
Also, can you tell me how to enable the CoreFTP log?
Thanks for all your help.
Regards,
Mike Monett
