cannot get real path...Permission denied

I am running coreftp server build 279 (that is what is says on the splash screen)
When I try logging in I get several error messages, it seems I can log into the server fine, but it does not want to list the directory, or anything. The username has full permissions on the "home" directory in the server.
I also made sure the coreftp service is running under an account with full permissions on the directory in question.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
