CoreFTPServer 1.1, build 356 Upgrade

Post by WSorensen »

I am new to this employer and to CoreFTP Server.

We have:
Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard (SP1) 64Bit
Core FTP Server Version 1.1, build 356 (32bit) Licensed; to a person that has left the organization in good standings… Although, we paid for the product.

Side note:
Other IT admin just wants to be at current version to match some of the clients. Our version is working ok btw! We have one client that is creating a new server to send us data and they get permissions error on their side when FTP’n from the new server, and our logs (verbose) sees them connect and disconnect. But if they do a FTP from a laptop they connect… I’ve added that serve’s IP to the Allow list too.

Upgrade issue:
Was trying to upgrade to current version of either CoreFTPServer64.exe OR CoreFTPServer.exe (32bit) and I get a popup ERROR box at about 15% into the install saying “Error opening files for writing: C:\Programs Files\CoreFTPServer\csrv.exe . Click Abort, Retry, or Ignore. I’ve click all 3 buttons and it still fails, but Abort reveals another box “Core FTP Server Setup: Completedâ€￾ and below that there’s 3 lines of data: “1-Output folder: C:\Program Files\CoreFTPServer, 2-Extract: correct.dll… 100%, 3- Can’t write: C:\Program Files\CoreFTPServer\csrv.exe. â€￾

I’ve tried run as different user on both 32&64bit versions and still fails. The installers do work on Win7 64bit PC… Ah, help?
